So, this week there has been more and more sightings of Nintendo’s new console the Wii U, due out later this year, at retail stores and online.
Well, let’s clarify. On Monday, there was sightings on AmazonUK of alleged box cover art of some of Ubisoft’s Wii U games. Turns out, they were totally legit. Then Nintendo comes out and says yes it’s real and that the Wii U box art has been “finalized”.
“Nintendo has finalized the design of the Wii U game box art, and many of our publishing partners have already incorporated it into their own game packaging,” Nintendo said. “We are seeing those game packages online as retailers are starting to showcase their games.”
Nintendo added: “For details about a specific game’s artwork, please contact the game’s publisher. Nintendo-published game boxes will appear shortly with placeholder logos, and then ultimately with the final artwork for each game.”
Now, we are seeing displays for the Wii U and games state to go up in GameStop stores and even a pre-order slip at Best Buy for the Wii U version of Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Wait, is this confirmation that Black Ops II is coming for the Wii U?
Apparently a Best Buy employee stated:
“The barcodes he placed on them are the actual preorder UPC to preorder the game. He also said the SKU’s exist in the Best Buy system.”
Remember though that Black Ops II has not been officially announced…but it’s a fair bet it will be very soon.
I had to go find out for myself and these GameStop displays, so I went to my local store and low and behold I saw it with my own eyes. Behold, the Wii U games display. I then talked to a GameStop employee, who has played the Wii U first hand, and they a said in their opinion, “if you call yourself a Nintendo fan, you will not be disappointed with the Wii U!” Also, ZombiU was amazing and the Arkham City Wii U edition was not gimmicky, but instead looked great and was fun to play. Another notable mention was that Nintendoland was just so much fun to play.
I am excited! Confident Gamers will be attending the GameStop Gaming Expo later this month in San Antonio TX, and we are just hoping to get our hands on a chance to play the Wii U, if it’s there. Stay tuned for that.
So, Nintendo fans, gamers, seeing more and more Wii U stuff, are you excited? Is it now real to you? Let us know down in the comments.
